HOW TO AVOID BECOMING A VICTIM OF PICKPOCKETS
DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON
With the Holidays upon us, it is anticipated that there will be an unfortunate increase in thefts of personal property while shopping or at your workplace. The key to avoiding becoming a victim is remaining alert and aware.
It is recommended that during this holiday season you consider the following:
-
Purses, wallets and checkbooks should never be left unattended in shopping carts , dressing rooms, or on coat racks;
-
Secure valuables in the trunk of your car while patronizing shopping malls or local businesses;
-
While at work, place personal valuables in a locking desk or cabinet; and
-
Extra attention should be given when in a congested area such as a shopping malls, sidewalks or while on mass transit. It is especially important to remain vigilant while riding the train, subway or buses; walking in crowds; or inside a crowded elevator.
An increase in awareness of security issues will help to make this year's Holiday Season a happy, safe, and peaceful time.
