Environmental Crimes Unit (ECU)

 

This Unit prosecutes criminal violations of New York State's Environmental Conservation Law. The Unit prosecutes a variety of these types of offenses, including the illegal handling and disposal of hazardous substances, hazardous wastes and solid wastes; the illegal discharge of pollutants into the waters of the State; the illegal purchase or sale of threatened and endangered species, or other protected wildlife; and violations of the laws regarding the commercial harvest of fish, shellfish and crustacea.
