Dental Office Manager Guilty Of Medicaid Larceny
New York State Attorney General Spitzer announced today that a Brighton woman pled guilty in Monroe County Court on charges that she bilked the Medicaid program by billing for dental exams that were not provided.
Brenda J. King, an office manager in the pediatric dental office of her husband, Dr. James King, admitted that she double billed Medicaid and third party insurers for the same services and billed for dental examinations that were not provided by the dentist. In addition to her plea, Mrs. King agreed to pay Medicaid and Excellus Blue Cross/Blue Shield approximately $92,616 as restitution for the fraudulent billings.
King appeared before Acting Monroe County Court Judge Stephen K. Lindley and pleaded guilty to Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, a class "E" felony. The matter was adjourned to January 30, 2007, for sentencing.
The prosecution was conducted by Jerry Solomon, Rochester Regional Director of the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. He is assisted by Senior Special Investigator Douglas Hinchey and Associate Auditor/Investigator Jamie Russell.
