New Head Of Real Estate Financing Bureau Named
Attorney General Spitzer today announced the selection of Geneith A. Turnbull as Bureau Chief for the Department of Law’s Real Estate Financing Bureau.
"Geneith Turnbull is an expert in the field of condominium and cooperative housing," said Spitzer. "She will help build consumer confidence and enhance enforcement of the laws associated with multi-unit real estate purchases."
The Real Estate Financing Bureau is part of the Division of Public Advocacy. It seeks to prevent fraudulent real estate offerings by requiring offering plans and related financial information be made available to the public. In addition, the Bureau enforces tenant protection statutes, and serves as an access point for questions on condominium and cooperative housing conversions.
Turnbull received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Pace University, and a Juris Doctor Degree from Western New England College School of Law.
Most recently, Turnbull was Associate Development Counsel at the Battery Park City Authority. Prior to that, she served as Assistant Counsel to the New York State Housing Finance Agency. She is a former Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Mount Vernon. She began her legal career enforcing housing code laws at the Judicial Department for the State of Connecticut.
Turnbull is a resident of Mount Vernon in Westchester County.
