Spitzer Calls On Assembly And Senate To Pass Legislation Aimed At Rooting Out Incidents Of Medicaid Fraud

Attorney General Spitzer today sent Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno correspondence calling on the State Legislature to return to Albany to pass two important pieces of legislation: 1) the False Claims Act [S.3895 (Farley / A.8107 (Weinstein) and 2) the Health Care Fraud Act [A.7594 (Lentol)].

Spitzer also called on the Speaker and Majority Leader to call upon the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to amend Federal Regulation that prohibits State Medicaid Fraud Control Units from engaging in basic anti-fraud detection efforts.
