Statement By Attorney General Eliot Spitzer

I have previously announced my support for education tax credits. While I could not be at today's rally in Albany, I want to reiterate that support again today. Providing tax relief to parents of low income families to give them the means to access expanded educational and after-school opportunities for their children is a good idea.

I continue to believe that increasing public school funding is the State's top priority. That funding increase, and providing tax relief to parents of all schoolchildren, should be the education priorities this year. I look forward to being part of the discussion on both of these vital initiatives.
