Statement By Attorney General Eliot Spitzer Regarding The Decision In The Microsoft Case
Today's decision by the U.S. Appeals Court is a clear victory for consumers and government enforcement of federal and state anti-trust laws. Contrary to many predictions, the Court unanimously affirmed the core claim of our case that Microsoft has willfully and repeatedly violated anti-trust laws, whose prime mission is to protect consumers and businesses from the behavior of a monopolist.
The Court's unanimous adoption of the Findings of Fact gives the plaintiffs a powerful position to move forward to seek a remedy that will restore competition to the market.
We are confident that we will prevail to level the playing field for other operating systems and provide better choices for consumers everywhere.
