Statement By Attorney General Eliot Spitzer Regarding The New York Stock Exchange

The New York Stock Exchange is one of the nation's most important financial institutions. The Exchange helped make New York the financial capital of the world, and it continues to be a vital component of the city, state and national economy.

The Exchange is obviously going through a challenging period. Like all institutions, it must be aggressive in adapting to changing conditions.

I am confident that the Exchange's new leadership understands this challenge and is doing its best to respond.

I and all of my colleagues stand together in our dedication to preserving the preeminence of the Exchange in New York City.
