Statement By Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman On The Anniversary Of Martin Luther King, Jr.'S Assassination
|
NEW YORK -- Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman released the following statement today in remembrance of the 43rd anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. "On this anniversary of the senseless assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we all should reflect on a life and vision that continues to inspire generations to serve our nation in the pursuit of equality. "Forty-three years later, we still have work to do to fulfill Dr. King's dream. New Yorkers are struggling to get by and achieve the fundamental tenet of equal justice under law - wages are down for a large part of our population, families are losing their homes, immigrants are being underrepresented in the census, and too many communities are plagued by violence. But Dr. King taught us to never give up the fight, no matter how long the odds. "Today, let's use Dr. King's dream of empowerment as an abiding force to move this nation ever closer to its guiding principles of justice, equality and opportunity for all." |
