Statement By The New York State Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Today, we honor the extraordinary legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. whose vision of a just society in which every man, woman and child lives free and equal continues to inspire us all. Dr. King proved that one man, armed with courage and conviction, could change the course of a nation and the discourse of the world.
America has made great strides, yet the staggering disparities in black and white employment rates, education achievement and home-ownership prove we have a long way to go before the dream is fulfilled.
Dr. King’s words and deeds should be the fire that reinvigorates us all as we fight to break the remaining chains of discrimination.
