"We are saddened to announce the passing of the Attorney General's father, Irwin Schneiderman, after a long and distinguished career as an attorney and an activist for social, cultural, and political causes. Irwin acknowledged that everything he accomplished was because of what he got from the people and institutions of New York, and he did everything he could to give it back."
