Ulster County Man Sentenced In Internet Child Porn Case

An Ulster County man was sentenced Friday to five years probation and time in county jail after pleading guilty to using his home computer to store and transmit child pornography.

Richard Reynolds, 29, of Gardiner, was arrested at his Route 208 home on Feb. 10, 1998 during a child pornography Internet sting operation run by investigators in the attorney general’s office.

On Friday, Reynolds pled guilty to one count of Possessing a Sexual Performance of a Minor, a felony. Ulster County Court Judge Michael Bruhn sentenced him to 27 days in county jail and five years probation.

In addition to jail time and probation, Reynolds forfeited his computer and must register as a sex offender under New York’s Megan’s Law.

When Reynolds was arrested, investigators discovered he had thousands of child pornography images stored on computer floppy disks and on his computer’s hard drive.

"By his actions he was helping fuel an industry that victimizes children," said Kelly Flood-Myers, the Assistant Attorney General who prosecuted Reynolds.
